Understanding fuel… and fuel accumulation

Fuel is one of the three elements that affect fire and fire behaviour (fuel, oxygen and heat). As the climate becomes warmer and drier across Australia, understanding fuel, and how fuel accumulates over time, is essential to managing bush fire risk to life, property and natural ecosystems.
The Hotspots Fire Project team has created a new resource for landholders that breaks down the factors influencing fuel. The first in a series of fact sheets, Understanding Fuel... and fuel accumulation, explores the importance of fuel and how fuel accumulates in different environments.
